I just updated and now all of my fonts are rendering weirdly with wrong spacing and sizing.

Please do yourself (and us) a favor and subscribe to notifications for the #announcements:stable-updates category. For every major update, there will be a dedicated announcement thread (usually by @philm) , the second post of which covers potential issues.
The issue with fontconfig to which @Storm666 just gave you the solution was listed as one of the issues for this update ─ as well as when the packages were still in [Unstable], [Testing] and [Stable-Staging], each of which comes with an announcement thread for new updates ─ as you can read below.
