Akira - upcoming Linux design tool

Check this out, seems to be interesting for those of us who design:

I personally backed few :space_invader:

Since Inkscape is good, feature-rich and all...
But working with artboards / layers / groups is insane in my opinion :alien:

Sadly:

I was never able to compile it, nor install the akira-git ... and because of that i was never able to make a objective evaluation of it. Maybe that is the reason why so few backers.

Well, it's still a lot of money, and this guy is not giving up.
There's some activity on https://github.com/akiraux/Akira it seems...

But yeah, kickstarter initial goal was kinda insane, since he aimed for extremely rapid development

P.S. AUR sadly fails, i've read somewhere on github that it's due to vala-lint (which is not really used anymore) and will be fixed in upcoming git sources...

so much for a ui and ux app which itself doesn't support other themes beside elementary os theme

AKIRA IS CURRENTLY IN EARLY DEVELOPMENT, NOT READY TO BE USED!

@Librewish
Yeah, well...
I guess it comes from main dev using it, but since this program use GTK - i'm pretty sure it will support any theme out there when it's ready

Btw, since we're on that vector / UX topic - maybe someone know if there is some way to work with Inkscape layers / groups Illustrator style?

Probably some settings / plugin i missed?

Meaning:

  • When you open SVG it should respects layers / groups hierarchy
  • So it looks like that in layer panel:
Layer 1
    Group 1
           Path
           Ellipse
    Group 2
           Path
Layer 2
    Group 1
           Path
