Black screen after installing nvidia drivers - laptop dont work with nvidia drivers only!

I just installed nvidia 390xx nonfree drivers and rebooted the laptop to apply the changes but it gives me a black screen.
Laptop: Asus X555LD
Video card: Nvidia 820M
Manjaro gnome, everythings up to date

and why have you changed that on your laptop ?
you dont know how works bumblebee , so you broke you Xorg

Many are having this issue with Nvidia. Basically what you have to do:

  1. When you see that black screen go into TTY (Alt+F1 to F7)
  2. Remove the Nvidia 390xx and reinstall the default and recommended Manjaro drivers for your system (see how you can do that here https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Configure_Graphics_Cards)
  3. Reboot - now it should work fine, if not see this thread Manjaro stuck after Grub
  4. Now that you boot into your system you need to install Nvidia 390xx through PRIME by following this tutorial [HowTo] Set up PRIME (output offload) with NVIDIA proprietary driver

It looks more complicated than it actually is, just follow all instructions and you can use Nvidia 390xx as your default driver.

Thank you so much!
