Boot on install problem black screen blink cursor [log attached]

hello.
i want to give linux a shot as a replacement for desktop environments.
sadly i'm having trouble installing manjaro distributions. namely: XFCE, KDE and Deepin.

the gui wont load and all i am able to do is login via terminal and upload logfiles to my ftp hoping somebody is happy to help me out.

if you need any other info i will do my best to provide that asap.
i'm planning to run manjaro with Windows 10 on dualboot for starters and then later down the road somewhere decide if i ever want to run windows again outside of a VM.

my system is:
i5 4670k
RX480
Z87-GD65 mainboard from MSI
i'm running a dual monitor setup; one is connected via DVI and one via HDMI directly from the gpu itself, not the mainboard; both are the same model and spec
i tried installing via uefi and legacy, every time i am stuck on the same issue.
this last log is from installing in uefi.

First of all can you boot into a Manjaro Live environment?

If the Live DE loads then check the driver used with mhwd -li.

There was another user having AMD driver blackscreen booting issues today... have a look at that thread first, hopefully it will help.

EDIT:

[ 34.054] (II) AMDGPU: Driver for AMD Radeon chipsets: OLAND, HAINAN, TAHITI,
PITCAIRN, VERDE, BONAIRE, KABINI, MULLINS, KAVERI, HAWAII, TOPAZ,
TONGA, CARRIZO, FIJI, STONEY, POLARIS11, POLARIS10

First, I'd check my specific GPU against these supported chipsets, make sure you are using the right driver.

[ 34.054] (II) [KMS] drm report modesetting isn't supported.

This is the error I think.

https://www.x.org/wiki/ModeSetting/

I don't use AMD GPUs, but I would maybe try and turn modesetting off. Not sure where though, have a search other AMD driver threads in this forum, this probably isn't the first time someone has experienced something similar. It could be a GRUB setting, but now I'm just guessing.

well yes, that is kind of my point.

my gpu is a polaris gpu and for unknown reason i had zero issues whatsoever installing booting live into Antergos and installing.

and i cant even boot into a live boot except to exactly that point where the screen blacks out with a blinking cursor. from there i can go to the console which was the only possibility for me to even get the log.

i already deleted all the modesettings from the grub menue (the one where you press E and you can edit the arguments). so i deleted everything which had "modesetting" in them (2 entrys) and still i wasnt able to get past the blackscreen.

maybe because my gpu is not an official rx480 but from sapphire and therefore (holy maybe) a different pcb layout and ofc the factory overclock.

i never had any of these issue, neither with kali live boots or rescue boots.
i think i'll have to read more on the topic before giving in. its kind of weird because Antergos is working just fine.

Should not make a difference, I think you need the right kernel to boot those RXx cards.

@Paulh thanks for your reply. i usually never do that (very bad habit). but after you suggested i did and they do match.

@anika200 yes, maybe. i'm very good when it comes to linux outside of the daily casual stuff on servers.

i might try a different build of manjaro later on.
