So I did another session today. Took me a while as it costs time. Anyway here what I did from a before-mid-August restored state after loading the last working backup from my system through timeshift.
- install 419-kernel and do all the upgrades
- Agree to replace video-nvida with video-nvidia-430xx . This should be the correct driver for my gtx1060 according to Nvidia
- reboot to 419
From there I get to the situation where there is only the cursor visible. Funnily now with the new version from Manjaro also manjaro-welcome window also shows up.
I checked up on different logs through TTY.

So I thought it might be a good idea to re-install my graphics driver. While doing so, I noticed errors relating to the linux-51 kernel. As it is EOL I removed it as well. So in following order I did:
- Remove Nvidia-430 Driver
- remove Nvidia-51 kernel
- install 419-kernel
- again install Nvidia-430
- reboot
This has led to state where x doesn't start anymore. Meaning I don't even get to a black screen anymore. Just startx finishing with "giving up". Here the details from Xorg.0.log
