Booting to black screen

So far Manjaro has been running ok for me but from time to time when i turn on my laptop it boots to a black screen and i have to force shutdown it. It hasnt caused any problems in terms of performance for me yet. Any help would be appreciated.

When it boots to a black screen can you switch to tty (Ctrl+Alt+F3)?
