Cannot play audio CD

I am running Manjaro KDE on a Dell XPS 13 notebook. I am unable to play CDs using a USB CD drive + Amarok. Amarok sees the CD, but when I click on the CD icon under Files I get the following error message:

URL cannot be listed
audiocd:/?device=/dev/sr0

I am also unable to play CDs using kaffeine. Interesting, I can play CDs using Clementine and vlc. I am probably missing something simple. Suggestions are welcome.

Hi jsbach ( a bach that can't listen to music ....):scream:

Joke aside, what is your output of

ls -l /dev/sr0

Did you try to open with root ?

@loup The output is

cribari@darwin3 ~ $ ls -l /dev/sr0
brw-rw----+ 1 root optical 11, 0 jan 31 22:37 /dev/sr0

libdvdcss and libdvdnav are installed. audiocd-kio is installed.

Trying to start Amarok as root:

cribari@darwin3 ~ $ sudo amarok
[sudo] password for cribari:
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
unnamed app(17319): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server: "Using X11 for dbus-daemon autolaunch was disabled at compile time, set your DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS instead"

unnamed app(17318): KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.

Using kaffeine, when I click on "Play Audio CD" nothing happens.

@ jsbach

Are you using systemd ?

If so, what is the output of

systemctl status dbus.service

@loup Yes, systemd. Standard Manjaro KDE install. The output:

cribari@darwin3 ~ $ systemctl status dbus.service
