This is not a big problem, more of an annoyance.
So recently I set up optimus-manager, three times (I was changing DE at the time so no worries) and I have discovered that while changing between Intel/Nvidia/Hybrid on Gnome, my computer freezes before getting into the login screen again.
I did not experience this on KDE or XFCE DE, but somehow Gnome has really grown on me (considering I really dis-liked it to begin with).
The switching "does work" if I change the start-up mode in the optimus settings and restart the computer, but it is kind of an extra step.
I used this guide to get optimus settings working. Now, I have noticed some differences between the guide and my system in general. First of all, I had no graphical files in
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ before starting the process of setting up optimus (this was different on both KDE and XFCE). I am guessing that is not very important. Currently there are only 2 files in that folder,
10-optimus-manager.conf. Don't know if that is relevant or not.
I was also going to have steam use the graphic card natively, but in the guide the location of
steam.conf is in
~/.local/share/application/ while on my computer that file is literally in
/olividir/desktop. Again, not sure if that is relevant or not.
Now, like I said, this is more of an annoyance than a deal breaker, but it would be nice to have it working properly. I know this is work in progress.
