Would be a start to investigate if match your demands. As for a 100% alternative, don't know any ... With i3 you will have to replace kwin

Or my suggestion wasn't clear, or you didn't understand me, but i'll explain what i meant. In a clean KDE install you can replace KWin with i3-gaps, log in plasma and have everything (or less) from both plasma and i3 in the same time. The advantage is that you don't need countless configs ... Thanks for this link, I tested the 3 improvements kwin-quick-tile-enhancements is pretty good for me.

None of these solutions offer to create the grids I have the impression, I will continue to look if I find! (now that I know there is a button to search for KWin scripts ^^)
