Flickering screen after installing nvidia drivers in Manjaro Openbox 20

Hi. I have just reinstalled Manjaro Openbox, from 18 to 20. While all was working fine in the version 18, now I have experienced some issues after installing the nvidia drivers, however I didn't noticed if it was ok before and is due to the nvidia drivers installation. Any help is welcome!

There issues (that I noticed so far) are:

  1. In a second monitor, when I maximize the window, it left a unfilled space above the window (rectangle in red in the below screenshot).
  2. The button for miximize is empty (but working anyway). This happens also in the primary display.

And the most annoying behavior is the flickering screen. It happens randomly when I open a new window or move the cursor. Here is a sample I uploaded in Youtube.

Thank you. I should say I love this Pacbang version!

I use a dual-head setup too - I cannot reproduce the behavior

Interesting word miximize :slight_smile: - the colors of the buttons are themed but you know that - and the color changes because the window is maximized the button is black - like the buttons in inactive windows are all grey - and a maximized window the 'miximize' button is white.

Screen flickering - the systems I use don't have flickering - I have one with an older Nvidia card using opensource drivers and I never had trouble with the opensource Nvidia drivers so troubleshooting is out of my league and I cannot provide any insight into that.

However as it is a default installation Manjaro - any graphics trouble shooting for Xorg you can find - using forum search - will apply to Openbox as well.

Haha, sorry!

I see, I didn't know this.

Thank you, I'll search for possible solutions for Xorg. If I find how to solve it, I'll come back and post the solution.

Okey, after some research, it's seems it was related with Picom and Nvidia drivers. I followed the suggestions in Arch wiki and now there's no flickering/tearing.

Screentearing with NVIDIA's proprietary drivers

I added the line vsync = true;

Any clue why is this happening?
