Graphics (and other) issues

my reason is that i never used linux before, as i said, so i had no clue what's going on, but sure i cannot learn it if i only read about it, so i jumped, i try
i chose gnome on manjaro- obviously, but i like split screen on fm, and also i like to be free, what i choose to appear on the surface/menu... (i know probably i can do this with nautilus too, but i don't even dare to imagine about asking it; how  )
i found this dolphin the match, i swapped, but i'm not sure if could ever be able to find this things watching youtube videos
now i understand this part

i'm considering it

i just didn't wanna write here with this thing straightaway, so i tried to look for it, and be a bit more self-sufficient as it was suggested
i've been lookin a lot, and to me seemed, that there is solution and i saw i'm not the only with this, i said to myself, i ask it here, as they spoke not beginner friendly language

i wrote

because it is really not a big deal, at least now i have also learnt, i need to be a bit more attentive what or how i write here
i knew about that exist kde and gnome and etc but they said i can manage to change anything in case, in fact i did change, but came out this tiny issue

i appreciate your help anyway, sorry for essay

anyway as u can see i've got much more serious problem with the graphics, i should concentrate on that, but i'm stucked and waiting for some update, or a noob-friendly-pro.
for now that's the best i'm able to do
the only main thing is not to go back to K%C3%A9perny%C5%91k%C3%A9p%20%E2%80%93%202018-10-20%2021-07-49

You can use nemo or PcmanFM-gtk3 or even spacefm they are all split screen the later is quatro split screen, all work better on gnome than dolphin,

yeah, i also saw nemo, i chose dolphin randomly.. sure i give it a go, now that i know what r better for gnome
thanks

Hi
I swapped to kde, this time I chose free option, after I set it up, I did the same commands

Would you guys have a look, if this time looks any better?
Plus I catched a few times (even before, on gnome/deepin) a display bug. Once in a while a line appears on the top of the screen- like 5 pixels wide- with pinky-vibrant colors. It takes less than a second. The other thing is, that I set the scaling to 1.1, and some part of the surface r not smooth. Is this a system bug, or also I can give the credit to my CPU?
Apart from these it looks fine.

These are not important errors, actually informative.
You may correct them:

pam_tally is deprecated and superseded by pam_tally2, so you will want to comment out the pam_tally line:

#auth required pam_tally.so onerr=succeed file=/var/log/faillog

From Archwiki

What about performance? Is it improved, comparing to Gnome?
That line maybe a theme feature.

Well, on gnome I had mainly the launcher lag, on deepin was not such an issue, in fact that was flying, 15secs to boot. (kde about 30s).
But with kde apart from that small issues, seems quite good. Plus sometimes shows up a line also in terminal, that remains, until I open screenshot to make a proof.
Just by curiosity I installed 0AD, it's laggy, but no surprise with this pc.
After I quit, the whole display was flashing. :open_mouth:

Now I try what u wrote, if I can handle
Thanks

e

nothing, sorry, I don't know what I do, it's the same, better if I just use as it is

Set the compositor to OpenGL 3.1.
Post

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I don't know if it's ok, or I did st wrong, but the first line is not the command as it used to be, I copy as it shows. I did set opengl 3.1

Please don't paste walls of repeated text in the forum.

Either pick out the relevant parts, or paste them in full to a pastebin site (e.g. bpaste.net) and link to them here.

I wish I could find out which part is the relevant. Shall I delete it?
Or if it's urgent I ask u to do so.

I've fixed up the posts.

Something to consider is that the laptop isn't Linux-compatible and isn't going to work well, no matter what you do.

You should definitely try kernels 4.18 and 4.19 though, to see if they add/improve support for your hardware.

Actually, you left out the beginning of the Xorg log file, which includes relevant info.
Please, post the full log to a paste-bin service.
Also post

journalctl -b -k -g "intel|i915|drm"
cat /etc/modprobe.d/*.conf

not that we can surely find a solution, but rather for reference and more eyes can see it..

Have you adjusted the compositor?

This time, this is the first line, it's so long, that I needed to paste it in two boxes and got warned

The second is quite short

blacklist r8169

Let me know, if there's a way to do the 1. command correct, thanks

I'll keep in mind, thanks

I'm almost sure, that I'm gonna ask now a total bull-sheet, but better if i learn (at least the reason), so I'll do, in worst case u r gonna laugh or do a facepalm
Is it possible, to install the windows driver for Intel® UHD Graphics 605 through wine or st?
Didn't use wine yet, have no clue what it is able to do..
Or maybe I should go for pheonix os plus linux deploy for gimp or any multitasking.
Still it wouldn't solve my problem, but I could use the android for many things, and at least I'd be able to handle.
Do u have any xp with this option?

I tried
Nothing's changed

Nope.

Hey
I have some new info, maybe it helps to figure out the solution.
My problem is with the compositor, as if I press Shift-Alt-F12, all the flickering stop showing up. I can live without all the nice animations, but definitely would prefer to have them working without this issue. I tried all the option r given there in the settings, but all the same. Is there any chance, to tweak or anything, that I could give a try?
