KMail - can't install it by Octopi, tried twice (some errors), while everything else (any other apps) can be installed.
mailnagis in the repos and works well.
Works well - can't say the same. There nothing appear (no windows, nothing) when I start it, only config windows opens.
That's correct, it runs in the background. Close the config window and wait for email to arrive.
I just sent mail to me - nothing. I filled fields as on example here.
Also tried account type - Gmail.
May be too soon (about a minute), how long did you wait till got message?
It's pretty immediate as it uses IMAP PUSH.
It's working for me - can you check the background task is running, e.g.
ps ux | grep mailnag
john 18992 0.2 0.5 524036 43584 ? Sl 19:17 0:00 /usr/bin/python2 /usr/bin/mailnag

Hmm. OK, so it's running.
I suppose it's worth checking you have the notification plugin enabled, as all mailnag does is use something like notify-send to alert you have new email.
