HP EliteBook 755 G3/807E, BIOS N73 Ver. 01.23 03/26/2018 lots of ACPI Errors

Hello
I am using Manajaro-i3wm and want to give Manjaro-deepin a try but
with Manjaro-deepin installation I have the following errors:

with Manjaro-i3wm installation there is no ACPI errors at boot or when shutdown my HP notebook both installations from (Manjaro-Architect 64-bit) and same kernel version but Manjaro-i3wm with Configured DE and Manajaro-deepin Unconfigured DE.

I believe the notebook is affected by kernel bug ,the question how Manjaro-i3wm resolved that issue I mean by installing some packages or by some configuration which I need to install or configure my self to solve that issue.

thanks in advanced

From kernel revision to kernel revision, not only do these messages sometimes change their wording, but so does the log levels of certain messages, etc.

This has been discussed to death already.
Unless something is not working, or you have a kernel panic, 90+% of the time, these kernel messages can be ignored.

Thanks for your respond but honsetly no I cant ignore this messages since ACPI errors prevent the notebook from waking up from suspend.

I have similar messages on all of my Intel based machines, and all of three of the laptops wake from suspend just fine. Not that you could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it's these messages causing your issue. I'd take a closer look at swap space, tlp, grub settings, etc. first.

so what else could be the issue that my notebook does not wake from suspend but not always some times waking up from suspend works fine and some times I need to hold the power button to force it to shutdown then boot again.

HP have really crappy ACPI AML code :rage:

See this thread: [4.14][4.15] ACPI Error: Needed type [Reference], found [Integer] ASUS K55VM MOBO

You can sent report with this mess to bugzilla. Follow this post

A couple of questions:

A: Shouldn't this use the uuid "resume=/dev/sda2"?
You may need to add a resume_offset= if your not going to use the uuid.

B: Why "acpi_backlight=vendor"?
Some acpi kernel module will throw up a bunch of warnings when acpi_backlight=vendor is used.

Personally I would use:
video.use_native_backlight=1
and/or
acpi_osi=Linux

or if that doesn't work right
acpi_osi=!Windows 2012

acpi_backlight=vendor

is for Fn backlight keys works.

I actually know what it is for, I was checking that Wili does.
However, I had already changed my post while you were replying, please read again.

Without full dmesg log and AML files and dmidecode file we know nothing.

Agreed..

thanks for the respond
I am following your link and gonna try the workaround before post full dmesg and AML files.

logs are ready is there a specific website to upload?

google drive, dropbox, zippyshare any storage with free download options. :slight_smile:

I have done the chnages one by one with updateing grub and rebooting but the same result still no wake from suspend any way thank you for the suggestions.

Seems to be new regressions, option 1. will be reviewed and fixed, option 2. this is internal firmware bios/efi issue (crappy DSDT > [ 0.000000] ACPI: DSDT 0x000000009CFE0000 010124 (v02 HPQOEM 807E 00000000 INTL 20121018) and will be not fixed by Linux Devs, cause firmware on HP is just crap...

From the logs, I'd say check HP's website for a UEFI/BIOS update for your laptop (notebook).
If you don't mind me asking, what model HP notebook do you have?

No at all feel free its HP EliteBook 755 G3 with the latest Bios update 01.23 Rev.A which released 3 weeks ago.
