Kernel panic during install

Hi all,
I
Here I am...again...with a PC this time...
It is a 64 bit system. When I try to install Manjaro 64 bit on it (DVD) I get a kernel panic, even before I see the startup screen...
I feel jinxed...
:sob: Melissa :sob:

It would not happen on mac!
Is it again something form museum or standard modern pc?
Just question are you really using something like DVD from ancient era of computing?

I'm sure you checked the checksum on the ISO after your download.

Well, it's one of those:

Did'nt, should have. Same with Xubuntu as well, by the way.
I tried FreeBSD as well, but the current version has checksum errors...

As a side note (as I wrote this reply: the time was wrong, I have set the time, though I doubt that would remedy the kernel panic...
(looked over my shoulder)...nope, did'nt...

I would check that checksum first and is it possible to use a USB stick as maybe your DVD drive is on the way out.

External DVD drive...same trouble...

It is 12 years old try very old kernel

I can highly recommend using ventoy and USB.

sudo pacman -S ventoy

After

ventoy -i /dev/sdy

Just drag'n'drop the ISO onto the USB - yes - raw ISO - fantastic tool.

LOL! You lit up my day!

Well, I could have this kinky side that I may explore...

This CPU is from era when kernel 2.6 was released I would try kernel 4.19 or older.

The ManjaroXFCE 16.08 does install, updatein gives a problem...
So I wanted to try something newer...

Try Architect where you can choose kernel, you need the oldest one which is very likely 4.19 in Architect or ubuntu 6.06

Yeah, for that wasted money you would have mac mini from 2018 or current Intel NUC
But you can always get some gold from that parts!

Done...was scary...but done, now the USB does'nt mount, but, let me see what gives...
So...drag n drop an ISO and it's cool? Maybe you just rescued that minimac I just tossed int he electric trash
Edit - kernel 5.4 needed, it seems, 5.x dont have bVidia on my system (anymore)...that is why I use 4.4...
Workaround...next time...now I HAVE ti detach, or I'll partition my brain...
