I've noticed several people mentioning errors after the recent libreadline update. I encountered it when trying to run nmcli: "libreadline.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
I solved it by creating a link to libreadline.so.7, which was a solution also suggested in another thread:
Yes, it looks like this can cause much more serious problems. I think if the kernel gets updated at the same time, it runs mkinitcpio and so avoids the worst problem. This link you posted is helpful:
