Manjaro crashes on Realtime Kernel after a few seconds

Hey all, sorry if there is a thread about this but I just couldnt find anything relevant.
Also it is my first time posting so please excuse if I am leaving out relevant information.

Basically I cannot use the realtime kernel for some reason as ALL the available realtime kernels crash after a few seconds. they just freeze. No problems on normal kernel.
I even did a fresh install now running xfce and it didnt change.

Please help me to find a topic where this is being discussed or tell me how to acquire further information about my hardware to post here.

I'd lend you mine but it's not much better :crazy_face:, what @tbg said pretty much covers it, you'll have better results going back to standard kernels instead.

So. . . interesting question. Why do you insist on running the RT kernel? Have you tried the regular kernels? Do those work ok?

the regular kernels work like a charm. however i am doing music production and using the realtime kernel seems like a logical choice (also it is recommended on the arch wiki article).
I would love to make it run especially as the laptop im using is quite new and i would hope that everything whould work fine for a few years.

However I wasnt aware of the Realtime kernels have their problems and could be a source of instability. In a life situation maybe its acceptable to sacrifice some of latency for a more reliable system.

But is there really nothing i can try to make it run?

even rt-kernels are separated to lts and experimental versions. if i had to use a real time kernel i would recommend to use a rt-lts variant.

wow I just tried something that for some reason is working for the moment. Im not sure if it will crash but for now its looking good:

instead of using manjaros kernel manager from the manjaro settings manager i reinstalled the new kernel using mhwd-kernel
and now i successfully booted into the kernel

oof ok now with the kernels installed via mhwd-kernel i am getting different kind of errors:

trial and error, what do you have to loose ? i won't be a help at real-time kernels, i never needed them but i know that you have to dig in because a lot of settings in a rt-kernel must be adjusted by the user.
