Thanks for taking over @AgentS. Hopefully you can pin down the cause.

Good luck.

Same result, no difference in journalctl

The file exists but it has size 0. If it helps, I am also experiencing an annoying problem related with KDE powerdevil (the problem persists after a completely fresh install), maybe they are related Problem with KDE power management (powerdevil)

suspension has nothing to do with power management, so you don't need to mention at all..

Is there anything else I could try then to diagnose the problem? If it helps, the laptop has a LED on the power button. During suspension the LED is supposed to flicker but now when I close the laptop the LED just stays turned on as if nothing happened

I have tried executing /usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet --immediateLock without any problems. The lock screen appears with the expected background image and I can type my password a go back the session without any further issue.

I have also tried uninstalling TLP, same results but the logs are slightly different with respect to systemd

I have tested hibernation and it works flawlessly. I have check how a normal suspension should look like in the logs and there should be more PM entries after
nov 19 17:21:22 manjaro kernel: PM: suspend entry (deep)
Is there anyway I can check what kind of suspend I am using?

Good news kinda, my laptop has to modes of suspension in /sys/power/, deep (the default one) and s2idle, which does not save as much energy as deep, but it works, I am able to resume from suspension. Still I would like to know what's wrong with deep

I don't want to know.
Please use whatever works. Not everything offered by the system is equally usable on all HW combinations.
