Mouse and Keyboard take 1 minute to start working after login

I'm not really sure what happened, but since this morning my mouse and keyboard take around one minute after login until they start responding. At boot, aka in grub, everything works fine.

It may be worth pointing out, that I updated my system yesterday evening, so presumably something went wrong there...

I searched the forum and tried what was suggested here by admdb, but it seems that this service doesn't exist...

I'll provide some things that might be useful, if you need more, please let me know.

sudo pacman -S haveged
sudo systemctl enable haveged --now

Reboot:

systemctl status haveged

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Haveged

cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail

Gives the "amount" of entropy available (not awake yet :coffee: )

Thank you for the answer.

Executed the first two commands, rebooted and the result is

$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail
2869

The problem still persists.

(In the meantime I will try to figure what entropy in this context means...)

< 1000 is a problem. So it is not an entropy problem.

What does:

 cat /etc/mkinitcpio.conf  | grep -i  ^hooks

Return?

Also is tlp installed? If it is remove it.

Try another kernel.

$ cat /etc/mkinitcpio.conf  | grep -i  ^hooks
HOOKS="base udev autodetect modconf block keyboard keymap resume filesystems"

Yes, it was installed. Removed it via pacman -Rs and rebooted, nothing changed.

Never really played around with these.. Anything specific to look for when choosing?

Sorry, have to join a work briefing, try 5.5 4.19 & 5.6:

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linuxNNN # e.g. linux419 linux55

Reboot, hold shift, select from grub.

I grateful for any help I can get, so no problem.

I tried 4.19, 5.5, 5.6. Nothing changes as far as I can tell.

Not sure if this is useful, but

mentions several errors regarding usb.. Couldn't really find solutions by googling..

Unfortunately neither can I, will keep looking.

I found a solution to my problem, but I'm kind of hesitant to call it an "actual solution".

After some trying out I noticed that the mouse and keyboard started working if I unplugged and then plugged them in... So I got the idea to just go into my bios and enable ErP and voila, everything works as desired.

Now this is certainly not an option if you need your USB-devices running after shutdown, but for me at least it is good enough...

Of course, if anyone finds a solution which does not rely on this, I'm more than happy to read about it.
