Mouse hang up (freezes undeterministic after 1-4 hours..)

Hi,
i am sorry to tell, that my mouse hang up...

mouse hang up

Just kidding, since ubuntu 14.04 i have noticed that the mouse freezes, on all my computers, with different mouses randomly, after 1-4 hours..I got used to it, just replugging the usb mouse. (allthough with touchpads, i've needed to re-login with ALT + F4)
Now in manjaro, since i have the same issues, i'll try to fix it.

It occures with some mouses:
eg: this chinese mouse: LEDGY SL-610000-BKWE
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 04f3:0235 Elan Microelectronics Corp.
dmesg | grep mouse
[ 23.187790] mousedev: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice

Here's a dmesg after repluggung the usb-mouse.

That has happened occasionally with this Logitech mouse for 3 years, but I'm used to it. But it is not as frequent as your hangs/disconnects. I'm convinced it is the mouse, since it doesn't matter what DE or OS. I'm waiting for the darn thing to die so I can replace it. Die, mouse! Die, die, die!

Hahahahaha,
yes one can think of spending hours troubleshooting, or giving away a few bucks to buy a new mouse and problem solved... Now choosing ...Hmm... spending lots of time
Since it seems easy to debug... lets see.
(On the other hand, if one has to tell new users "not even the mouse (or touchpad) works straigthly here... " but you can configure the kernel, nvidia drivers, but a mouse error is an error for the small minds...)

Could you try editing /etc/default/tlp and set USB_AUTOSUSPEND=0 ? You might need a reboot.

Great. Now I'll need to get used to my mouse functioning as intended.

Thank you, @jonathon.

What, seriously?

This default setting really needs changing. :pensive:

I also changed the autosuspend on BT to 1 from 0, which is a preferential thing.

Hi thanx i'll try it, or better:

looking for the mouse with lsusb and select the adress with:
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 04f3:0235 Elan Microelectronics Corp.

# Exclude listed devices from USB autosuspend (separate with spaces).
# Use lsusb to get the ids.
# Note: input devices (usbhid) are excluded automatically
#USB_BLACKLIST="1111:2222 3333:4444"

USB_BLACKLIST="04f3:0235"

PS: what i do not understand here is: I can move the mouse, while moving and/or right clicking, it freezes. But i'll try the usb autosuspend.

PPS: I've noticed this behaviour in ubuntu 14.4 LTS (gnome fallback session). Now in manjaro also in XFCE. Could this be kernel related?

USB_BLACKLIST=“04f3:0235”
did not help...
of
lsusb
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 04f3:0235 Elan Microelectronics Corp.

The mouse freezes randomly..
I'll try another mouse...

Hahahaha i have another sign of mouse driver crashing..
Actually my soundcard is not working, so i have turned the loudspeaker on loud for testing reasons. Every time the mousedriver is crashing, it hisses some noise to the loudspeaker ..

I have both your problems. It happened after kernel switch (recommended kernel 49>414).
So I guess it's a kernel issue.

I have another mouse which is working fine, but i think i will test this as my first kernel patch? If i can find the issue, well lets see..
