No ethernet after 10/14 Oct Stable updates - KDE Desktop

I've spent a couple of days trying to figure this out on my own and it is time to ask for help....

After the recent stable updates (10 and 14 Oct ...NOT the 28 Oct updates - too scared to try) on my KDE desktop and a reboot, I've lost my ethernet LAN connection. I get the red X over the network icon on the Panel.
I've tried stopping/starting NetworkManager, rebooting router, rebooted with various other kernels, deleting and recreating the wired connection in NetworkManager, and running "sudo ip link set enp1s6 up" and chrooting and making sure any updates were completed (but not since the 28 Oct updates came out).
On my extra partition running a "fresh" KDE Manjaro and the running Manjaro live the network is fine on both.
Some info is below... Thanks

Can you also post the output of ethtool enp1s6, ip addr and look into journalctl -b if you find any clue about what is (not) happening?

ethtool is not installed but I added some other output into my original post... thanks!

This line of your systemctl status output

suggests that Networkmanager is expecting to connect to an Open vSwitch (?) but can't find it running. Does that make sense to you?

Maybe of help:

I also see that you disable IPv6 in grub. Make sure that you have an active IPv4 DHCP server in your network and verify in NetworkManager that IPv6 is set to "Ignored" and IPv4 to "Automatic".

..suggests that Networkmanager is expecting to connect to an [Open vSwitch] (?) but can't find it running. Does that make sense to you?

No idea about what openvswitch is or why I would have it. I checked pamac and it is not installed.

Make sure that you have an active IPv4 DHCP server in your network and verify in NetworkManager that IPv6 is set to "Ignored" and IPv4 to "Automatic".

Yes it is.

On my "fresh" KDE Manjaro running from another partition: that "ovsdb: Could not connect.." error does not show up. and I also have the IPv6 disabled in GRUB.

Both manjaro installations have same thing:
cat /usr/lib/systemd/system/NetworkManager.service.d/NetworkManager-ovs.conf

[Unit]
After=openvswitch.service

While investigating more on my production manjaro (with no network) the systemctl status NetworkManager had some additional/different lines at the bottom:

Cheers!

Try this:

sudo systemctl stop NetworkManager

sudo mv /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager_state.bak

sudo systemctl start NetworkManager

If restarting network manager does not fix things, try rebooting your computer.

I would also recommend doing a full manual restart of all your network components if the above does not work.

Thank you! this worked :

Any guess as to what happened? I can't think of anything I did to cause the issue...

Cheers and Thanks again.

I have no idea what causes it. It was a very old bug in network manager that was not supposed to be a thing anymore. It pops up about once every six months or so on the forum. It is far from a common occurance.

Glad that fixed you up.
