Performance hit after suspend or hibertation

Hi.

My Manjaro machine has some problems with the performance after waking up the machine after gets suspended or hibernated, it gets slower in some ways like moving the windows arround, and the system feels a bit weird.

The problem that I notice the most (and best comparable) is Youtube. If I reboot the machine I can go as high as 1440p in 60 Hz at 2x speed without a problem, but after I suspend/hibernate the machine it can't go beyond 720p at 60 Hz without getting video stuttering and my whole PC coming to a sluggy mess, animations go slowly and losing frames, the web browser gets slower, Code OSS etc.

First I thought that was my poor main GPU, the Radeon HD 5770 (I have a NVidia GTX 1060 but is getting passthrough to KVM for a VM that I run). But last week I reinstalled the drivers and the computer was working better than ever! (because I rebooted it for the install). But after some days I noticed the performance hit again, and after a lot of trial and error I discovered that suspending the PC was the culprit. (I suspend the PC a lot, I don't reboot it often).

The PC gets slower after suspending the PC, no matter if it's the first time I suspended it or not.

Maybe it's a problem with the Passtrough thing, it's a very rare thing to do and maybe there is not many help online (I searched a lot for this...)

Yes, I had to abandon Linux 2 years ago since I needed Windows to finish my studies, but now I relegated it to a KVM VM and my computer and laptop are controlled by Manjaro, just as I like it :stuck_out_tongue:

I generated the same inxi in both a working properly state and in a bad state, I did not find any difference, but here they are just in case you see something I missed.

but as I'm on nVidia, not AMD, so you'll have to resolve this in a new question and I'm 95% sure that will resolve your issue here.

I posted the question here as you said, it seems that the "Radeon" driver is failing, but the ATI driver is working fine. Danielsuarez369 even tested the same GPU in a computer (which stills blows my mind when I think about it).

Maybe my particular configuration of the KVM, IOMMU, Dual GPU and with a decade old card is causing all of this. Since I'm going to upgrade the Radeon with a more modern card with better support (I'll ask for help to decide, I've never bought and AMD card before) I'll report about the change to see if that works.

Is the performance problem gone as well?
