Privoxy or not Privoxy?

I was just wondering:

I had actually not heard about Privoxy before this whole Google Adblock thing.
I am not... that panicky about privacy, I would mainly use it as another layer for blocking ads, scripts and trackers, not "OMG I have to be totally anonymous".

The little I have seen for that purpose seems promising. Is it a good idea?

It's a decent enough extra layer, which can be used to help reduce the uniqueness of browser fingerprints.

I have to admit I use it as a lightweight proxy regardless of any "privacy" stuff it does...
