Ratoc U2SCX USB/SCSI Adapter funktioniert "Out Of The Box" mit Ubuntu aber nicht mit Manjaro :(

Hallo, ich haben einen Ratoc U2SCX Adapter erworben, um einen alten SCSI Scanner zu nutzen. Als Software verwende ich Vuescan. Ein weiterer Treiber muss somit nicht installiert werden. Getestet mit Ubuntu vom USB Stick funktioniert der Scanner sofort ohne jegliche Probleme:

Ich bin da leider nicht bewandert. Wenn der Adapter unter Manjaro laufen würde, wäre mir sehr geholfen. Ich möchte nach Möglichkeit kein anderes oder zweites OS installieren!

Hallo, ich hatte bereits '4.14.121-1-Manjaro', '4.19.45-1-Manjaro' und '5.0.14-rt9-Manjaro' probiert. Da der Adapter mehr als 15 Jahre alt ist, denke ich aber nicht, dass die fehlende Aktualität des Kernels das Problem ist.

Na hast du mal die Kernel-Log eingesehen, was der Kernel so spricht?
Und "Vuescan" arbeitet scheinbar mit Lizenzen. Vielleicht passt da etwas nicht....

Lässt sich da schon irgendetwas rauslesen? Das Notebook war mit dem Scanner über den U2SCX Adapter verbunden. Der Scanner hat funktioniert. Falls erforderlich bzw. hilfreich kann ich auch unter Manjaro eine Log-Datei erstellen.

Hallo, die Professional Edition habe ich schon vor Jahren gekauft. Zu testen, ob ein Scanner verbunden ist, funktioniert aber auch bereits in der Testversion ohne Lizenz.

Vielleicht liegt es an der radioaktiven Strahlung der CPU!!!

Na haste mal den "Vuescan" -Support angeschrieben oder angerufen? Die werben doch damit: "Läuft nicht, gibt's nicht!". Bevor wir hier noch weiter rumrätseln....Das sitzt bestimmt ein Supporter bereit, um die Datenbank nach einem entsprechendem Fehler zu durchsuchen und eine Lösung zu präsentieren.

Dieser Treiber scheint zu funktionieren, jedoch wird der hub Treiber bei Manjaro genutzt. Ich schau mal.

Das wird auch eher am Scanner-Treiber liegen und nicht am Controller, obwohl ein paar capabilities fehlen.

Es könnte noch Sinn machen unter "Ubuntu " ein "lsmod" durchzuführen, um den Namen des Treibers/ Moduls zu identifizieren. Dann könnte man schauen, ob ein solches Modul unter "Manjaro" existiert und es dann mal mit "modprobe" nachladen.

Die einzige Sache: unter "Ubuntu" hat das Modul "usb_storage" mehr aktive Clients. Vermutlich fehlt irgendetwas im "Manjaro"-Kernel. Du könntest es nochmal mit "Vuescan" versuchen. Einfach nochmal installieren und schauen, ob ein Scanner-Modul überhaupt erstellt werden kann. Theoretisch müssen die das Modul auf deinem Rechner während der Installation erst erstellen (Ein Modul bekommt während der Compilierung eine Art ID über den Kernel unter dem es erstellt wurde usw., wenn ich mich richtig erinnere..es sei denn die cracken das, aber das halte ich für unwahrscheinlich). Vielleicht ist bei diesem Erstellen des Moduls etwas schiefgegangen. Fehlende Programme oder so oder fehlende Rechte...

Hallo, danke für die Rückmeldung. Ich denke, dass ist kein Scanner sondern ein Adapter (Ratoc U2SCX) Problem. Der Scanner ist nur die einzig mir verfügbare SCSI Hardware, mit welcher ich den Adapter testen kann. Vuescan wird nicht klassisch installiert sondern man lädt eine Datei von der Website, welche sich per Doppelklick öffnen lässt.

Ich bin als Nutzer einer mehr als 40 Jahre alten Kamera froh, dass es Vuescan gibt. Ich benötige es nur zur Erstellung eines RAW Scans mit linearem Gamma. Aber das ist schon OT.

Es kommt drauf an ob der Treiber über Vuescan kommt oder durch den Kernel gestellt wird. Bei den Konsolenausgaben ist klar ersichtlich, dass bei Ubuntu mehr erkannt wird. Ich nehme an das in der Live-session keine extra Software installiert wurde, oder sehe ich das falsch?
