Remove bumblebee and install Intel only

Trying to remove bumblebee and install Intel video driver with MHWD but not success

not use of nvidia and lots of trouble to make it working properly

Dunno what to do, so copied back the etc/x11/mhwd.d/intel.conf of previos bumblebee
than installed xf86-video-intel, vulkan-intel, lib32-vulkan-intel with octopi

than added in etc/default/grub

You can use mhwd to choose a driver or you can install and remove the packages manually.

When you use mhwd, you need to use it's names for the drivers. If you just type mhwd it will return a list of the options it thinks are compatible with your system.

xf86-video-intel is a package, not one of the mhwd options.

You probably wanted:
mhwd -i pci video-linux

have same possibility but remove bumblebee and intel to past on nvidia only ?

Not all optimus laptops allow sole use of the nvidia driver, a lot of them have the intel gpu active by default at boot.

Check your BIOS first to see if you can set the discrete gpu (ie nvidia) to be the default gpu, then you can attempt to install the nvidia driver.

sudo mhwd -r pci video-hybrid-intel-nvidia-bumblebee
sudo mhwd -i pci video-nvidia

Note if your laptop doesn't support setting the nvidia as the default gpu then installing the nvidia driver will lead to a non booting system (ie black screen), and you will either have to re-install bumblebee or use prime.

Also I appreciate the clarity of the message!
But all this I already knew I wanted to see if another solution was possible after prime I did not try.
To be honest this problem comes mainly from the fact that I had a big problem with primusrun who did not want to work with steam!
My only solution I found was to remove steam-manjaro to install steam-native.
Since I use DXVK I need primusrun, optirun does not work :frowning:
But now everything works great but I know that the native steam version does not always work very well!

Oi bello sono nella cacca fino al collo non ho idea di come disinstallare bumblebee e installare optimus manager, se hai una vaga idea please rispondimi xd :dizzy_face:

per disinstallare bumblebee puoi usare Manjaro Settings Manager, purtroppo uso solo Intel e non saprei come guidarti con Optimus Manager...

Bumblebee doesn't support Vulkan, so even if primusrun or optirun command works, you won't get any use of DXVK anyway. The only solutions so far are:

  • set only one GPU, usually it's nvidia (PRIMUS setup - there is a guide here on the forum that you can find), intel alone will support DXVK but won't give you performance so it's good only for very old or not GPU intensive games
  • use nvidia-xrun, it basically runs parallel second X session with nvidia, but two DEs and X servers are run in the same time so that is not optimal for performance, but still works quite nice, I played Witcher 3 on such setup
  • use GPU switchers like optimus-manager (with optimus-manager-qt) that you already got the link for, or optimus-switch (also an instruction findable here on the forum).
