I plan to buy a larger monitor (27 inches). My question is, which resolution is better, WQHD or UHD? The monitor will get its signal from a GTX 1050 Ti. Gaming is not planned, but Office, Internet, Videos and Netflix. So: 27 inches with 2560 x 1440 or rather the same with 3840 x 2160? Or: is UHD already worthwhile with 27 inches?
That would depend on the monitors native resolution, and what the GPU/connector is capable of.
Please, note the browser restrictios for using Netflix:
@AJSlye as I already wrote: the graphic card is a GTX 1050 Ti. Connection via display port. What the native resolution of the monitor is then of course depends on the monitor I'm going to buy. Either one with native 2560 x 1440 or one with 3840 x 2100. To decide that, I asked this question ...
@Wollie Ok, I only use Firefox, so UHD in Netflix probably wouldn't do me any good ...? For FHD I have an extension in Firefox, but for UHD there seems to be none.
Taken from the GTX 1050 Ti specs:
Maximum Digital Resolution: 7680x4320@60Hz
7680x4320 at 60Hz RGB 8-bit with dual DisplayPort connectors
7680x4320 at 60Hz YUV420 8-bit with one DisplayPort 1.3 connector.
DisplayPort 1.2 Certified, DisplayPort 1.3/1.4 Ready
Thus I don't think it really matters, it's up to what you think would be the best fit for you.
Why not go for a 27" UHD monitor, or is price a limitation?
In Firefox you could enable the DRM checkbox. Firefox supports Google Widevine CDM, so maybe Netflix is working just fine.
@Wollie that's sounds god, I think about it
@AJSlye Okay, these monitors are on my shortlist:
if I decide to go for UHD (looks more and more like it ...), I still oscillate between the Dell and the BenQ
I honestly don't have a preference, I run mostly All-In-Ones, or laptops.
My current main system is this one:
