[Solved] Apache | service httpd status * status: crashed

Hello, dear friends, I have a small inconvenience in apache.

I get the following message:

sudo service httpd status
* status: crashed

how do i fix it?
Also check the log in /var/log/httpd/error_log , and i get this:

[Sat Mar 18 16:37:24.820921 2017]
 [mpm_prefork:notice] [pid 4279] AH00163: Apache/2.4.25 (Unix) PHP/7.1.3 configured -- resuming normal operations

[Sat Mar 18 16:37:24.832338 2017]
[core:notice] [pid 4279] AH00094: Command line: '/usr/bin/httpd -D DEFAULT_VHOST -D LANGUAGE -D INFO -d /usr/lib/httpd -f /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf'

Any idea, to fix it?

From already, thank you. Forgive my english, i do not speak much english.

can you paste httpd.conf contents?

also, the output of "ps -p $PID" change $"PID" for the process id number.

Code paste httpd.conf:

#
# This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/> for detailed information.
# In particular, see
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/directives.html>
# for a discussion of each configuration directive.
#
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
#
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/access_log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/usr/local/apache2" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/usr/local/apache2/logs/access_log", whereas "/logs/access_log"
# will be interpreted as '/logs/access_log'.

#
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
#
# Do not add a slash at the end of the directory path. If you point
# ServerRoot at a non-local disk, be sure to specify a local disk on the
# Mutex directive, if file-based mutexes are used. If you wish to share the
# same ServerRoot for multiple httpd daemons, you will need to change at
# least PidFile.
#
ServerRoot "/etc/httpd"

#
# Mutex: Allows you to set the mutex mechanism and mutex file directory
# for individual mutexes, or change the global defaults
#
# Uncomment and change the directory if mutexes are file-based and the default
# mutex file directory is not on a local disk or is not appropriate for some
# other reason.
#
# Mutex default:/run/httpd

#
# Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
# ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
# directive.
#
# Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
# prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses.
#
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 80
ServerName localhost

The error logs dont seem to have nothing wrong with them. SIGTERM kill is normal for the apache2.
Does the server stop working after the crash or does it restart?
Does anything special happen before the crash or it seem random?

Tracking what issued a SIGTERM kill can be a bit difficult.

Well, the server works well after the crashed.
There is no future problems. If apache throws this error?

The log file does not show any errors. Its normal for apache to sigterm kill.
I also can't find anything wrong with your config file.

as for the:

I really dont know :s

Go. why throw apache2 this error?

Well, i hope i don't have problems in the future.

Thanks for the help and for your time.

It can be caused by a variaty of factors, the only time I had that problem, was someone throwing a ddos with slowloris ( create a connection and then never use it ), so after a while, apache would kill the process for that connection, creating the sigterm kill.

Hi,

First of all check if httpd is actually running or not, many times it happened with me that httpd was running but rc-status showed it as crashed.

pgrep -l httpd

If the above shows output, I guess httpd is running as expected.

I had similar issue on my Slackware system, and I fixed it by removing the start-stop-daemon call when starting the httpd service.

Following command could be used for that:

sed 's|start-stop-daemon --start -- ${APACHE2} ${APACHE2_OPTS} -k start|${APACHE2} ${APACHE2_OPTS} -k start|' -i /etc/init.d/httpd

If that works, let us know and it be added to the wiki.
