[SOLVED] Broadcom Wifi BCM43142

Hello,

I recently downloaded a fresh install of Manjaro KDE and I'm having problems with the network manager. While trying to connect to my home network the network manager would crash, the connection will disappear, and I will get the wifi symbol in the system tray but will not be connected. Here is a picture of it:

I then tried stopping the dhcpcd service and disabling it as well as stopping the network manager, enabling it, and restarting it as per a thread I found but after doing this I just continuously get a wifi password prompt from kde when I try to connect. I'm not quite sure what is causing this.

Also I've tried connecting via usb tethering through nmtui and I get "Connection failed device not found"

try this
connect to usb tethering
in terminal
type dhcpcd
at least two-three times
it will connect you to internet via usb tethering.
then
sudo pacman-mirrors -f5 && sudo pacman -Syyu

This did not work. dhcpcd just says "sending commands to master dhcpcd process" and nothing happens. I typed dhcpcd probably like 30 times. This what I get when I try to connect with nmtui

when you get that message with dhcpcd you are connected try browsing.
dont use nmtui with dhcpcd

Nope nothing. I even tried a reboot and tried it again. Here is what I get from journalctl -u dhcpcd

i mean when you boot using usb pendrive its live environment.
did it connect you to wifi.

No it did not work at all. When I installed with the usb the internet was completely disabled and there weren't any drivers installed for some reason. On the usb anyway. Once I did the install I did get the drivers for my Broadcom but now I'm having these problems.

I've installed Manjaro before and have been able to connect to the wifi with same driver. I don't understand why this is happening.

You mean make a new bootable usb and reinstall? Also I know what tbg is going to say "your Broadcom card is from a bad bunch of Broadcom cards". Considering I have been using Kubuntu for years with no problems with connectivity I don't want to hear it.

not reinstall if only you could check if connecting works.
you could also try my lxqt-kwin iso
as it uses connman insted of networkmanager.

i think the iso ,you are using may contain faulty set of apps for your hardware.
if you could just update your installation using chroot from live usb which has working internet connection

Problem is my live usb didnt have any wireless drivers at all. Would connecting manually with an ethernet cable work?
