[Testing Update] 2018-03-14 - Kernels, Browsers, Nvidia, Xorg, KDE Frameworks, Deepin

Updated xfce 4.15 with no issues

Also got the issue with distribution.ini. Not owned by any package. As above had no problem with the previous firefox 59 a few hours ago. Just manually deleted the ini and everything went fine. :cat:

For those having the Firefox language issue, check this:

For anyone with distribution.ini issue please wait new manjaro-browser-settings pkg ( i correct the hooks this evening when come back to home ) or remove manually the file. When the new pkg is ready i write in this thread and @bogdancovaciu and @Pepito if you can test it ... very appreciated

I have this after Firefox-59 update on every Manjaro Forums page:

Cannot load app
It looks like you are offline! Please check your network connection and try again.

after I reload page it went

Pretty sure this is an unresolved issue with the forum software and not related to the update. See here https://archived.forum.manjaro.org/t/cant-access-forum-directly-from-url-on-pc/36138 and here https://archived.forum.manjaro.org/t/regularly-cant-load-forum/42227 for example.

4.15.9 Manjaro Plasma, Asus Z97 I7-4790, NVidiaGTX750 390.42. pacman -Syyu. First attempt failed due to distribution.ini. Removed it and update was successful. On reboot attempting forum got the offline message. Other than that no problems. Thanks to the posters here, the devs and the maintainers.

Regards

Again a solid update, no problems seen here.
And again, the programs got smaller. I wrote that already with the previous update, now I have proof:

Manjaro is not a good one for the HD or SSD industry.

Didnt work for me. Neither installing manjaro-browser-settings first nor switching to up-to-date mirror.

Two fresh installs XFCE and Gnome with the latest install media:

  1. switching both to testing gives the error distribution.ini
  2. making the update on stable works fine for both
2a. after reboot switching to testing works fine on XFCE but not working on Gnome
2b. switching to unstable made both end in the same error
2c. switching back to testing and reinstalling manjaro-browser-settings doesn't help in XFCE and is not working in Gnome because is stuck at the version from stable. The difference in the pre scripts between stable and testing still don't make a difference, are not triggered after this point.

There might be something else, but i don't know where to look.

This update nuked Plasma for me. Login screen comes up and I can log in, after that black screen with latte dock, yakuake, and the quick launch start, but that's it. I try to kill and restart plasmashell and get 'no process found' message. Apps will launch, but GTK apps are unresponsive when they do. Tried using both 4.14 and 4.15 kernels.

First time anything like this has happened to me in 3 years of using Manjaro, but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

On the upside, Firefox was working fine for me until I rebooted.

The latest 4.16-rc5 while booting gives me:

Microcode: Timeout while waiting for CPUs rendezvous, remaining 3

Where I have also seen values off 5 and 7. Line repeats itself 3 times, after which my system freezes.

2 hours ago already fixed I think: https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/3/14/930 I think I have to wait for the next rc.

What CPU you have?

What I get when I try to launch plasmashell:

This commit:

means it only runs when the Firefox package changes. Hence people need to update this package first, then update Firefox. I assume people are just running the update "whole" and it's complaining about the conflicting file during that process?

Yep only when ff is updated or installed the hook is trigged and m-b-s is already in the system so is this what i don't understand.. i remove the m-b-s target because this not need a workaround since the distribution.ini is placed in /etc/firefox.ini and the post hook copy into the /usr/lib/firefox/distribution
@Pepito yep since this update m-b-s work as expected so why not now

Are you sure? Looking at the Arch package file list it still has a usr/lib/firefox/distribution/distribution.ini ...
