and they shall call it KNOME :grin: , seriously though if you wanted and have the time to you could make a community ISO as arch already supports the DE apparently (packages are in the manjaro community repo). I can't see it being too complex therefore to make an ISO with manjaro-tools.

EDIT - @philm - I have switched back to radeon from amdgpu-experimental and the DRM errors along with the kfd one too are gone so they were amdgpu specific.

We will do. Send me the steps on how you installed it.

@philm you have to add this warning for kernel 5.6.x
checks USB port 3.x to works , it means we can see any USB ( it's ok for lsusb ) ,
if not reboot others kernel for mount volume USB

it's OK in 5.4.x LTS , ok 5.5.x , may not works always on 5.6

this is working ( lsusb is ok , log for any USB 3.x connected appears ) but NO mounting point after in kernel5.6 ( report for Intel Z170x , and also another guy with old AMD gigabyte )

more tests , it is ok on 5.6.2 , but
so yesterday I tested all four ports, and no keys USB3 came up.
I started on the 5.4 LTS the keys are seen, I restarted on the 5.5 ok then the 5.6 is now works,
and the flash drives appear ?

Odd, working fine here and mounting in dolphin as normal. The Jetflash is plugged into a USB 3 port

When posting these errors, it helps if you post inxi results so the team can know which hardware is affected.

I have a weird problem with blurring in Plasma on kernel-5.6 (.1 and .2 version included). For some reason, screenshots do not produce the effect that I'm seeing on screen (strange), so I'm providing pictures from the phone. And this gradients are visible all over where blur is used in Plasma on kernel-5.6.

Note that the system is running fine and glxgears performs the same on both kernels, it's just this color deformation is the problem. No errors on boot or otherwise.

I have also noticed the blur effect in SDDM looks different with Linux 5.6.2. I booted Linux 5.5 to confirm it was not the result of another update. The blur looked normal again.

EDIT: On my system, the blur effect is weird only the first time showing SDDM on each boot. It looks normal again after I log out of KDE and return to SDDM.

Well, I tried to install it on my PC, which failed. The desktop doesn't load. On a VirtualBox machine even the menu doesn't start and UKCC crashes when the defaultapps plugin is in the folder. To make it work, we really need the package list or a way on how you installed it.

... currently fails to produce a working ISO.

Blur still looks normal on my machines with kernel 5.6.2 and the new mesa, I see no visible banding in SDDM login regardless of cold boot and terminal windows look fine too. I'm assuming that's what you are referring to from the smartphone pic in the post you replied to. Problem with taking pictures with a smartphone is you also get frequency distortion from the refresh rate so if it's also noisier it won't show.

Intel HD 4000 GPU using i915 and AMD R3 using radeon.

I tried couple of time logout from Plasma to SDDM on kernel-5.6.2 and the problem still persists.
We are using the same graphics card: Intel 620 (GT2) so maybe this problem reflects particular chipsets.

Looks like race condition - not reproducible (happened 2 times in 4 days)

  • Kernel 5.4.30-1 / Kernel 5.5.15-1 (at coldstart) = o.K.
  • Kernel 4.19.114-1 = Problems...

EDIT: Like @zokiD had previously stated, the glitches don't appear in screenshots. They are glaringly obvious on my display.

Hi Ben, I have just upgraded to the latest testing with kernel 5.6.3 and it seems that the problem is fixed. The blurring in SDDM and in Plasma now seem fine, now weird gradients. Looking good to me.
