[Testing Update x32] 2018-01-11 - Kernels, Intel microcode

This set updates kernels 3.16, 4.4, 4.9, and 4.14 and the Intel microcode. There's also an update to LightDM which should enable autologin.

As normal, please test and feed back any issues.

Please also vote on the "is it ready yet?" poll but only when you feel this set is tested enough, and has a sufficient number of changes compared to x32-stable. Do keep in mind that x32-stable updates should be less frequent than x32-testing so not every testing update set should need to be moved over.

Available kernels

Series Version
linux316 3.16.53
linux41 4.1.48
linux44 4.4.111
linux49 4.9.76
linux414 4.14.13

Update flow

A new testing thread will be opened with any "important" change in x32-unstable, for example a new kernel version or security update. This should mean there is at least one per week. Once a certain size or importance threshold has been reached it will be snapped over to x32-stable.

Is x32-testing ready to be moved to x32-stable?

This will inform the snap process; there is no set threshold.

  • No or Not yet
  • Yes, x32-testing should be snapped to x32-stable at this point

Why you have 3 tags for Manjaro64 while only 1 tag for 32bit version?

So we don't fill the forum with more categories/subcategories than are needed. The manjaro32 audience is quite small, so putting all announcements in one sub-category is fine.

It is possible to mute all topics with a particular tag - click the tag, then in the top right of the topics list:

FWIW I've had no trouble with the new microcode in Manjaro32-stable. My customized 4.14.12 seems fine for stable as well. 4.14.13 should run a little smoother (responsive) than 4.14.12 if my Mint tests are any indication.

Everything seems fine on my test rig :+1:
