Timeshift & KDE - Viewing snapshots Mimetype problem?

Dolphin will not open as root, so I cannot browse my snapshots unless I drop to a terminal, su, then run timeshift-gtk and it will then allow me to view with pcmanfm.

I have set the inode/directory:

sudo xdg-mime default pcmanfm.desktop inode/directory

No dice.

I had this working, prior to a re-install but cannot figure it out this time - what have I missed?

This is what happens:

/dev/sda2 is mounted at: /mnt/timeshift/backup, options: rw,relatime,nossd,space_cache,autodefrag,subvolid=5,subvol=/
kdeinit5: preparing to launch '/usr/lib/kf5/klauncher'
kdeinit5: Launched KLauncher, pid = 26076, result = 0
kdeinit5: Communication error with launcher. Exiting!
Executing Dolphin with sudo is not possible due to unfixable security vulnerabilities.

Timeshift is "difficult" on this. Here is a "closed" issue, with no real answer.

Yes, I saw that. Bizarrely it has started working - and I don't know why

Heavy rain has stopped, clouds are gone!

Edit: Apart from jokes, I have stopped trusting timeshift some time ago, as there are several issues about usability, convenience, and some personal preferences not met. And Timeshift dev has only little time to work on new feature requests..
I am now using kup, for local/user data backup.
I've been long time on support for system recovery , so I may ask myself :joy: how to restore/repair from a broken system!
Unless a drive is dead, I only need save user data..
Let's see how long I can keep up with this risky attitude!...
