Win 10 + Manjaro dual boot on an Alienware area 51 R2

Hello to everyone,

I followed this video

and installed Manjaro the way it is shown but when it comes to restart the machine Windows 10 always boots and I can't load the Manjaro system. UEFI mode. All the partitions set.

It always restart with Win 10.

The PC is an Alienware R2 Area 51 with an i7 5930k and 16 gb of ram.

Wish somebody could help me with this.

Especially this part

internal disk drive not found. Setting the Manjaro partition as the fist to boot in the bios seems not to be the way

it says:

I checked the disk and all the partitions are ok. Manjaro simply can't boot. As show in the video it should appear the list on the screen with the options:

-Manjaro Linux
-Advenced options for Manjaro Linux
-Windows Boot Manager

It has never happened.

Yeah I never never that screen either until the second to last big stable update. I hate to say this but if that manjaro boot menu isn't triggering you may need to treat your BIOS as a boot menu. Does your BIOS show both bootloaders when you go to the boot order screen?

If I choose ubuntu in uefi it boots windows anyway.

The grub never starts.


First I assume you have disabled secure boot when installing Manjaro.
If you did not....Do IT!

Boot up (in UEFI) to installed Manjaro OS (not livecd) using the first post [Simple First Start].
Don't forget to do the 2 [Additional UEFI] commands].

Do you have Ubuntu? I guess you have removed it.
If you have removed it, Why do you need to say this?

ps: manjaro do not have any official you-tube installation guides.
there are installation wiki web-pages though.

Ubuntu was never installed. Manjaro was installed and it is still installed.

Secure was disabled in order to let the usb device boot and install Manjaro.

I simply followed the video steps but this list never happens.

Then how did Ubuntu entry get there?

I tried and I reach the famous screen list but when I boot it remains stuck in the grub
started TLP system startup/shutdown

Okay, that's a different matter.
At that grub linux line (after configfile), add '3' and 'random.trust_cpu=on' (both no apostrophes) and boot to prompt. Then do the commands (copy down first) as shown in link. Fix graphics and haveged (if applicable) later on.

But is it this hard? and what if I would install the two OS on different disks? would it be easier? and more reliable... because Manjaro grub freezes sometime at sturtup...

I don't think so, but you can try.

Can you recall after your installation is done, what error messages were you getting?
Is there only a message something like "installation completed, bootloader install error due to python blah blah blah.." or is there something else? Or no error message at all?

From what I could guess, your installation is completed , and as well as a bootloader issue, there might just be a graphics and haveged issue. But I am not certain. My last post will help you fix the boot issue (which I am fairly certain you have) while circumventing any graphics and haveged problem you may also have so you can boot.

But yes, I agree it is hard.
