Wireless issues Qualcomm Atheros

I have an old Dell Inspiron 1440 with a Qualcom Atheros wireless chip.

Intermittently, and without warning, the nic shuts off end disappears as if killed by the hardware switch.

Sometimes, toggling the hardware killswitch brings it back up. Most often it does not. Sometimes a reboot does it, but often two or three boots are required for the interface to come back up. It also shuts off after any hibernation and requres a reboot.

This is more than annoying. Here is the output of lshw:

       description: Wireless interface

Any suggestions?

Check tlp settings for it, maybe use tlpui
And maybe this will be also relevant
