wrong version published in the download page!

gives me a 64-bit version, not suitable for i686

It seems to be serving the right one here .. assuming the label is correct.
Or is that what you mean? It is labeled 32/i686 but is not ?

  • 32-bit has been discontinued, anyway.

Move on to a different distro if you want 32-bit.

It's fine, I have that ISO and it certainly is manjaro32, given the project is suspended for now @c00ter's advice should not be dismissed.
