Xfce Panel reset twice in one day

I've had Manjaro running for a few days now, having switched from Debian (and Mint before that) because Debian refused to use my new motheboard's Intel HD Graphics.

I was just getting used to the Xfce DE and had the panel set up the way I wanted it, then tried to add a new app to the panel -- and then had nothing but a short blank extra-height "panel" at the top left (mine had been the default height and full width on the bottom.

I spent quite a while reconfiguring the panel, then selected a different icon for Thunderbird -- Boom! The same thing again.

How do I fix this permanently? I had added apps and changed icons before without any problem.

Search the logs for errors

journalctl -g "xfce4-panel"

Did you install the current version or 18.0-beta? The beta has a lot of bugs related to panels and such.

It's the current version.

journalctl -g "xfce4-panel":

If I do

journalctl -g "xfce4" (i.e., without "-panel")

There are a few instances of this kind of thing:

Aug 24 17:02:29 <user>-Linux xfce4-notifyd[5304]: xfce4-notifyd: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.
Aug 24 17:02:29 <user>-Linux systemd[719]: xfce4-notifyd.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Aug 24 17:02:29 <user>-Linux systemd[719]: xfce4-notifyd.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.

Use this to make your output properly readable.

OK. I did what I had been doing on the FreeNAS forum, but your setup is different. I edited my post.
